On April 30, 1969, he was called to reserve duty in Kuneitra. Yair was appointed as a platoon sergeant and was discovered as a multi-verb organizer. He excelled in creating a cohesive society among the veterans and young men who were placed under his command. On the second day of Sivan 5729 (May 19, 1969), he fell in the line of duty and was put to rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Ramat Hashofet, where he laid down a booklet in his memory entitled “Yair,” with lists of his friends about his character and his work .
