Shelly, Raphael (“Serge”)


Son of Alexander and Abit. Born in 1951 in Sfax, Tunisia. When he was six years old, he immigrated to Israel with his family in 1957. The family settled in Be’er Sheva where he studied at Netivot Elementary School and continued his high school studies at the Amal school in Be’er Sheva. Then he learned a sketch. Rafi was a member of Tzofim, played tennis at the Hapoel club, and loved swimming. He read books a lot and was a kind boy, quiet and shy. He was drafted into the IDF in July 1969 and assigned to the Armored Corps on February 25, 1972, three months before his release, during his service. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva.
