Shelly, Joseph (Jojo)

Joseph (Jojo), son of Olympia and Gaston, was born on July 18, 1956, in Tunis, Tunisia, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1956. He attended the Nir Yaffe elementary school in Ta’anach and after- He continued his studies at the ORT vocational high school in Afula. Joseph was a good student, diligent and disciplined, loved by his teachers and accepted by his friends. He was an excellent gym and an avid sports fan who was particularly interested in table tennis. In his city he participated in organizing a table tennis team and participated in various competitions. His friends loved him for being kind, loyal, dedicated and willing to help others. He always smiled and did not fall in spirit, he had a sense of humor, Simcha, optimistic and cheerful. He also knew how to joke in taste and measure. He was a pleasant conversationalist and loved to argue about various issues, and when he explained that he was right, he insisted on his views with great obstinacy. He had great endurance, and he liked to work and was very active. He had never sat idly and always found himself an occupation. All his acquaintances remember him as a kind man, courteous and pleasant, generous and broad. He loved his parents very much, considered their opinions and listened to them on every issue, and never forgot to give them gifts on holidays. Yosef was drafted into the IDF in mid-February 1973 and volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade, after which he was considered a good soldier, responsible and dedicated to his position.
