Sheft, Jacques
During World War I he lived in Manchester, England, and volunteered for the Jewish Legion – the 38th Battalion of the King’s Rifles. On the 17th of Adar 1.3.1918, when the battalion arrived in Alexandria, Egypt, on his way to Eretz Israel, Jacques died while carrying out his duties. His name was immortalized in the book “Yizkor” of the Jabotinsky Institute in the “Soldiers’ House” in Avihail, and in the book “With the Jewish Battalions in Eretz Israel”. He was age of 22.
