Sheetrit, Shalom


Was born on April 11, 1957 in Morocco and began his studies in an elementary school in his hometown, completing five grades, and in March 1968, at the age of 11. He settled in Nahariya, Where he continued his studies at the Weizmann School, where he completed his junior high school and continued to study at the Amal vocational school in electronics, and in July 1975 Shalom joined the IDF and served in the Signal Corps. He passed a series of professional courses, advanced in his positions, and was promoted to corporal in October 1976. A few months later he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He volunteered to serve another three months in the career army. Upon his discharge from the IDF, Shalom began to work as a clerk in Nahariya, where he was about to be married and prepared to study law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and on December 1, 1981, Shalom was called to reserve duty for weapons training. A bullet was killed and he was killed. He was 24 years old when he fell. Shalom was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Nahariya. Survived by his parents and six brothers. The commander of his unit wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Staff Sergeant Shalom Sheetrit was killed as a result of a weapon accident during training.
