Shauvi, Zerah

Son of Leah and Issachar, was born in 1929 in the village of Marmorek near Rehovot and attended the “Moriah” religious elementary school. In early 1941 he joined Hanoar Haoved, and in 1943 he joined the “Gadna” movement, where he devoted himself to traveling and traveling the length and breadth of the country After completing his studies at the school he began to work in the “Leshem” He stopped working, and in November 1947 he was drafted. Zerach participated in escorting convoys to Jerusalem and the Negev, and in the battles of Castel, the Radar, Sha’ar Hagai, Latrun, Qubaybah, Tel A-Rish, the village of Uriya, and Nahal Sorek. He also participated in the battles of Julis, Iraq-Suidan, Faluja, and Beit Guvrin on the edge of the Negev. After he survived the battles of Sha’ar Hagai, he passed the road to the village of Marmorek, he stumbled and was killed near the entrance to his parents’ home by a bullet fired from his gun on 27 Iyyar 5708 (June 5, 1948). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot.
