Shateilo, Alexander (Alex)
The only son of Ida Wolari. Was born on December 21, 1981, in the city of Balz, Moldova, in the former Soviet Union. He was a good, quiet boy. In his hometown he attended kindergarten and elementary school. Although he was the youngest student, he was the tallest. Alex was a very friendly boy and had many friends. In 1990 the family immigrated to Israel and settled in Upper Nazareth. A year later, the family moved to Kiryat Yam and Alex graduated from the Rodman High School in electronics. Alex liked to read books and did a lot of sports. He listened to classical and modern music and his collection had over two hundred tapes. Alex was interested in space and futurism, leaving behind sketches on jumping in time and space. Alexander enlisted in the IDF in March 2000. After completing basic training, he successfully completed a course for squadrons and served as a lieutenant colonel at the base of the recruits at Nitzanim. On June 15, 2001, Corporal Alex Staillo was killed while serving at the age of nineteen, and was laid to rest in the military section of the Tzur Shalom Afek cemetery.
