Sharoni, Moshe
Son of Michael and Zahava. He was born on August 28, 1945 in Casablanca, Morocco. In 1948 he immigrated to Israel and when Moshe reached the age of school, he attended elementary school in Baka “the branch of life”. He studied at the Beerot Yitzhak group for two years and completed his high school studies at an evening school. From childhood, Moshe was permeated with a sporty, sociable spirit. He was active in the youth club in Baka and received a medal from the mayor of Jerusalem in 1959. That year he received a certificate of excellence in competitions for the chess championship, and he succeeded in reaching the second place in these competitions. In August 1963 he was drafted into the IDF and after being discharged from the army he was called up for reserve duty from time to time. This was the case even before the Six-Day War, when Moshe was called to the flag and on the second day of the battles, on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (6.6.1967), he fell in a battle in Gaza. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. The management of the Second Beit Hanassi Fund in Israel, the late Yitzhak son of-Zvi, showed great willingness to commemorate Moshe’s name and indeed a large library in his name was established at the “Branch of Life” elementary school in which he studied. His book, “Moshe,” was published by his friends and loved ones.
