Sharon, Yochai (“Juha”)


Son of Nava and Daniel. He was born on 21.4.1966 in Nahalal, in the year 18 of the State of Israel, during the period of Sefirat HaOmer, which tells of Rabbi Shimon bar Yohai – and the family unanimously decided that the name Yochai would be a diamond. Yochai was a cute boy, very naughty, friendly and loved about everything. He liked to walk in the fields of the village near the wadi and in his curiosity he checked and examined everything. He was a very active child, showed great love for animals and every evening he went with one of the farmers on a tractor to the dairy after watching the cow milking. Yochai attended the Nahalal elementary school in his moshav. From the first grade he discovered the books and spent many hours reading. His years in elementary school in the village were Simcha years of studies, trips, activities and camping of the Hanoar Haoved movement, the division of the moshavim, and parties. Yochai was an active participant in every event. He did seventh grade at the agricultural school in Nahalal and began eighth grade in the humanitarian track at the Ort Greenberg High School in Kiryat Tivon. Yochai was widely accepted and loved by his surroundings, wrote articles for the school newsletter, showed keen interest in political and political issues and took part in demonstrations for settlement in all parts of the country. Yochai traveled extensively throughout the country and the Judean Desert was especially loved by him, following the birds of predators. Yochai was also active in sports, basketball and kayaking in the Hapoel Amakim group. Yohai had a great love for agriculture, and during his vacations he worked in the various branches of agriculture, in the garage and in the food center for animals, always on a tractor. When he was seventeen, he helped his father build a room in the courtyard of the house, which served as a residence. In this room his friends gathered to listen to music, talk and have fun. He bought a car and drove his friends to school and to recreation. Yochai was a loving friend of his older sister and very fond of his younger brother. At the end of the matriculation exams, he was an enthusiastic activist in the preparations for the graduation party and took part in it. He was drafted into the IDF in July 1984. He decided to finish at least the first stage of the pilot’s course in order to experience the flight experience, and after six months he managed to join the squadron and join a team that was already in the midst of training and training Despite his poor physical fitness, successfully completed a 120 km journey, which testifies to his strong desire to succeed. After a few months he moved to serve in the Golani Brigade, where he took a course in NCOs and was scheduled to undergo an officers’ course, and served for about a month as a noncom in the Golani Brigade. On the 10th of Tammuz 5745 (July 10, 1985) he fell while performing his duties. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in his moshav – Nahalal. Survived by parents, sister – Michal, brother – Gideon and grandmother. After his death he was promoted. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commanding officer wrote: “Yochai fell out of an accident in the use of his personal weapon, which caused a bullet to be fired and his immediate death in the area.
