Son of Ada and Daniel. He was born on May 11, 1965 in Haifa. His childhood passed happily through the green neighborhoods of Haifa in the French Carmel region. He began his studies at the Tchernichovsky Elementary School in Haifa. After the family moved to the Western Carmel region, Yoav began to study in the “Hugim” junior high school. In addition to his studies, he was an active activist in the Scouts movement, an activity that was a beloved and respected part of his life. He became a mentor for a guide, to concentrate a class and a young tribe. Yoav devoted a great deal of time to his students and invested in interesting activities. He traveled extensively throughout the country, learning legends and stories about plants, sands, and military operations. Yoav was known throughout the region as ‘Halawi’. He graduated with honors from the junior high school and began his high school studies in computers at the Sammat High School in Haifa, where he demonstrated his real talents in high school, but on the other hand he turned classical literature into discussions on science fiction literature, which he liked. He decided to enlist in a combat unit, and at the end of October 1983 he was drafted into the IDF and served in the Golani Brigade . In December 1985, he completed a course for infantry officers, despite the fact that during his period he suffered multiple walking fractures and received an explicit order from a doctor to stop the course. After a half-year of basic training, he went with his platoon to the border on the Golan Heights, and was lightly wounded by shrapnel in the eye when he guided his soldiers In his summer training, he was appointed deputy commander under the command of his commander, who was discharged and returned with his company to serve in the security zone in Lebanon. On 19 April 1987, a Golani force encountered terrorists in the Manara area and Yoav fell during the battle with the terrorists and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, leaving parents and two sisters Yifat and Yael in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family, Rabin, the defense minister at the time: “Yoav was an outstanding officer, a model, an excellent fighter and a model member.” The Jewish Students Union in Rome planted a tree in cooperation with KKL-JNF
