Sharabi, Yehuda


Son of Naomi and Gaber, was born in 1932 in Yemen. In 1944, when he was 12 years old, he immigrated with his family to Eretz Israel. He grew up and was educated in Ra’anana, where he graduated from elementary school and began to work. He was a jeweler, specialized in this delicate work and worked there for three years, until the outbreak of the War of Independence. In May 1948, he joined the Palmach and served in the Harel Brigade, and less than a month later, on the night of June 8-9, 1948, he went with his battalion to the “Yoram” operation – the third attack on Latrun. The attack was carried out as planned, and the fighters stormed the outpost and succeeded in capturing part of it, and during the fierce battle many of them were injured, the enemy’s resistance was fierce and the casualties were left with no strength to complete the occupation of the outpost, and on that day, the 2nd of Sivan, (9.6.1948). He was 17 years old when he fell. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
