Sharabi, Yaakov (Akram)


Son of Ezra and Esther. He was born in the early days of Tishrei (October 1942) in the city of Zaru in Iraq. When the family immigrated to Israel, Yaakov began to study at the “Orach Chaim” elementary school, completed his studies there, and then studied for three years at the Arab High School in Jerusalem. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement. An employee at Hadassah began working in the capital. He was drafted into the IDF in November 1960, but did not finish his service. On July 20, 1961, he died in his illness at Tel Hashomer Hospital. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
