Sharabi, Ezra
Son of Abdu and Adele. He was born in 1951 in Cairo, Egypt, and immigrated with his family to Israel in 1957. He studied at the “Geulim” school in Bat Yam, and as a child he was shy and modest and did not stand out among his friends. , Courage and ambition to be always the first, he was an ardent athlete, and he achieved great achievements, all kinds of sports – running, swimming, soccer, volleyball and basketball – and he was a member of “Hapoel” Bat Yam, The sailing department, and participated twice a week in inter-city competitions, after graduating from elementary school Bar Jerusalem high school and lived in a boarding school there. He had no patience to wait for the date of his recruitment so he volunteered to join the IDF ahead of time, and thus sought to make its contribution to the homeland as best he could. Ezra was drafted into the IDF in May 1969 and during the short period of his service he excelled in his courage, dedication and loyalty to the IDF. He was always the first to fill difficult and dangerous positions and his superiors knew that Ezra could be trusted because he would not fail. On November 17, 1969, six months after his enlistment, he fell in battle in the Jordan Valley and was brought to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery.
