Shapiro, Shalom


Son of Yeshayahu. He was born in 1914 in Rovsevitz, Poland, and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1937. He settled in Holon and was a ritual slaughterer and examiner, later joining the Haganah and was an active member of the Haganah. On the eve of Rosh Hashanah (25.9.1938), on his way to Tel Aviv to slaughter chickens for the holiday, the bus he was traveling in was attacked by Arabs and Shalom was shot and killed and laid to rest in the Haganah section of the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery. He is mentioned in the “Book of the Communities of Rubizovitz”.
