Shapira, Dov (“Benik”)

Son of Zvil and Chaya. He was born on April 17, 1922 in Pinsk, Poland. After graduating from a state high school in his hometown he studied for three semesters at the Polytechnic in Lemberg. Served as an officer in the Polish army. Immigrated to Israel in 1947. He was drafted into the IDF in July 1948. He later served in the permanent army with the rank of Major, and died on the 5th of Iyar 5706 (1.5.1956) and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left a wife and two children.
