Shamir (Shemer), Dr. Yaakov
Son of Deborah and Abraham. Born in 1894 in the city of Kamenets-Podolsk in Russia. After completing his studies and being certified as a doctor, he served for a time as a doctor on British and Polish ships. During the 1936-1939 riots, Yaakov fell on duty on 18 Elul, September 14, 1938, when shots were fired at a Jewish bus that made its way on the Rosh Pina-Safed Road. He was brought to rest in the Hagana section of the old cemetery on the Carmel coast, Haifa.
