Shamir, Arie (“Arik”)
The son of Meir and Berta. Born on 20.11.1949 in Jerusalem and spent his first years in Moshav Shoresh in the Jerusalem Corridor. The family then moved to the rest of the settlement in Upper Galilee. Aryeh studied in the elementary school (Beit Hinuch) in Safed and after completing his studies there decided to study at the military boarding school near the Reali School in Haifa. This was the decisive step in his life, because in doing so he linked his fate with the army from an early age. He passed the entrance test with great success, and at the boarding school he immediately distinguished himself with his positive qualities, such as honesty, kindness, and pleasant temperament. He was active in the fields of society and the individual and represented the boarding school in sports games. Arik was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for the paratroopers in August 1967, when he completed his studies at the boarding school, where he grew up with a serious sense of responsibility. He returned to his unit and was appointed deputy commander of a company with the rank of lieutenant, and when he was at the boarding school, Aryeh decided to join a career army service, but as early as the beginning of his career in the career army, On August 12, 1970, he was absent while carrying out his duties, and the next day his body was discovered and he was brought Eternal rest in the cemetery in Safed.
