Shalom (Chilom), son of Tamar and Avraham, was born in 1954 in Batil, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1962. He began his studies in the country of his birth, continuing at the Uziel State Religious Primary School in Kiryat Shmona After graduating from the Katznelson High School in Kfar Saba, Shalom was an outstanding student and was particularly successful in mathematics, and his high school teacher wrote about him: “He had great concentration. He was diligent, had good learning habits and, above all, was a gifted, gifted and intellectually gifted student. “In addition, he was a sports and hiking enthusiast and a lot of photography, and at the boarding school he set up a photography lab where he developed all his photographs. Large collections of stamps, coins, symbols, and key chains, he was naturally a little shy and shy, he loved peace and quiet, far from quarrels and strife, and always asked for compromise, to the extent that fate had chosen him the name Shalom. He was courteous and courteous, courteous and disciplined, he was still and with a poetic soul, he loved to help without showing off or pretending to be arrogant. Shalom was not picky, liked the simplicity and was happy with his lot. He was loyal and dedicated to his parents and respected them long. Shalom was drafted into the IDF in early August 1972 and was assigned to the Armored Corps. After basic training, he completed a course in the “Centurion” tank. His commander in the Barak Brigade says that he was “a soldier who was responsible and devoted and fulfilled all the tasks he was assigned to, without having to evade,” and that he had a strong desire to succeed in overcoming all the difficulties he faced. During the Yom Kippur War, Shalom took part in the battles against the Syrians in the Golan Heights. On the 11th of Tishrei 5740 (7.10.1973) Shalom fell in the battle at Tel Saki. He was laid to rest in the Kfar Saba cemetery. Survived by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal. His parents donated a Torah scroll to the Ohel Mo’ed synagogue in Kfar Sava.
