He served as a combat soldier and as a lieutenant colonel and was discharged with the rank of sergeant in early 1994. His discharge certificate reads: “A person of leadership, training, clever, responsible, highly personal, capable of organizing and managing, helping and helping others.” He was also a combat soldier in the brigade. Avner returned to Eilat and worked in various field works – earthwork on a tractor, work in a quarry and managing a concrete drilling company. He saved money and went with friends on a trip to the East. Avner traveled for about six months and returned to Eilat. His parents tell of his love for life: “Avner loved nature, freedom, peace and tranquility, all of which he found in Sinai, where he went on a mission to every place he went along with more and more groups of friends. Reading, music, guitar playing and a chief dog that accompanied him everywhere. ” He decided to settle in Eilat, and about a month and a half before his death he bought an apartment. He was transferred to a hospital in Be’er Sheva and died a few hours later. He was twenty-eight years old when he fell. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Eilat.
