Shalashvili, Daniel


Son of Vinera and Avraham. Daniel was born in the Soviet Union on October 18, 1968. He immigrated to Israel with his family in 1971, grew up in Ashkelon and completed high school there. Daniel served in the Israel Defense Forces between 1986 and 1989. After completing his military service, he worked as a transport driver, married Lisa and they established their home in Ashkelon, where their children Avraham and Guy were born. In May 1990 he joined the Israel Prison Service. He served in the Ayalon Prison and in the Nitzan detention center in various security posts. During his service, he advanced to the rank of sergeant. In May 2003, Daniel was admitted to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon following severe leukemia, and was transferred to Tel Hashomer Hospital, but after two months his forces exhausted him and he died on 12 Tamuz, July 17, 2003. Advanced Sergeant Daniel was thirty-five years old when he fell, and was brought to eternal rest in the Ashkelon cemetery, leaving behind a wife and two sons.
