Shahar, Yaakov
Son of Aryeh and Miriam. Fourth generation in Israel. He was born on December 2, 1933 in Jerusalem. He completed his studies at the Tachkemoni School in the Holy City. He tended to sport and belonged to Maccabi. Was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in September 1951, and on the 23rd of Kislev 5713 (23.11.1952) he went to sea with six of his friends in a sailboat to fill a position – and did not return. A monument in his memory was erected in the Missing Persons section of the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. This fallen hero is a “maklan” – a hero whose burial place is unknown.
