Shahak (Talman), Avi

The only son of Sheim and Malka. He was born on the 3rd of Iyar 5707 (May 3, 1947) in the city of Iasi, Romania, and immigrated with his family to Israel in 1951. My father acclimated to the life of the country and was a “sabra” in everything. He was quick and sharp, yet at the same time he was serious and serious in everything he did. He was educated in the Nahariya academic school and was a devoted and loyal son to his parents. He treated them with great respect and love, and so his friends and acquaintances loved and respected him. He was an enthusiastic athlete and took part in sports. During his spare time he liked to work in handicrafts and especially in assembling models of airplanes. Avi was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in November 1965. He served faithfully and conscientiously and fulfilled all the duties assigned to him until he was chosen to serve in the naval commando unit and participated in the Six Day War with great courage and faith and victory. And his work in civilian life was a security job, and he died on 9 May 1970 when he fell while carrying out an explosive charge on a ship. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Nahariya.
