Shafir, Guy


Ben Silva and Ronnie. He was born on March 29, 1976 in Kiryat Ono, the eldest son of his parents. He studied at the Sharett Elementary School and at the Ben-Zvi High School in Kiryat Ono. From his youth he was a full of curiosity and talent, with many varied interests. He liked to spend time with friends on various walks and events, attracted to music and cinema, spent hours on computers and surfing the Internet, tried to shoot video, and showed great interest in flying. He wanted to learn to fly, and until then, he had practiced flying with the simulator on the computer. Guy joined the IDF in August 1994, and after a short service in the Signal Corps he arrived at the helicopter squadron at Tel Nof, where he served as a NCO navigator. In this role, he was very motivated and wanted to improve and progress further. Due to his excellent performance, his responsibilities were expanded and, in fact, he served as an officer in the squadron. He had only fourteen months to serve in the unit and in a profession he loved so much. On March 31, 1996, Guy was killed in the Yasur helicopter crash. Maj. Gen. (res.) Eyal Geller, Captain Ofer Schwartz, Sergeant David Weitzman, Corporal Ezra Doron, Corporal Inbal Tuosi and Corporal Liav Pilgod, who left behind his parents, sister Talia and girlfriend Efrat.
