Shafan, life


Son of Shulamit and Yitzhak, was born on October 3, 1963, in Tel Aviv. He completed eight years of elementary and junior high school and moved to the “Amal” vocational school, where he studied the mechanics of diesel car mechanics. In October 1981 he was drafted into the IDF and served in the Ordnance Corps, and during his service, his father suffered a fatal illness, and on the recommendation of his commanders, life conditions were given to him to relieve his father, especially his mother. His commanders noted that he was “a good soldier, quiet, disciplined, performing his duties well.” On the 4th of Adar 5744 (March 8, 1984), shortly after his father died, Haim went on a Saturday vacation home, traveling in a civilian vehicle and at the Golani Junction, where he was killed when he was 20. Haim was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Holon. Left behind a mother and sister, and his unit commander wrote in a letter of condolence to his mother: “Haim served as a model for the company’s soldiers in all fields. Was devoted to his work, sensitive to the sufferings of others, always reached out when he needed “
