Son of Pesia and Joseph, was born on the 24th of Shvat, 5703 (February 1, 1913) in Haifa. His father, a veteran Zionist, aspired to give his children a Hebrew-Israeli education, and the entire family immigrated to Israel in 1910. At the age of seven, he married his father, but despite his family’s decrepit physical condition, he graduated from elementary school. Afterward, he began working as a clerk, but he devoted himself to completing his education on his own. Israel was particularly interested in plastic art and painting. At an early age he joined the Haganah, devoted all his spare time to operations, was devoted to his duties, and when he was in Haifa, he attained the rank of deputy company commander. At the age of 18 or so he joined the “Socialist Youth” movement and became the center of the nest’s activities. He was inclined to live together and set up a plan to establish a group. During that period he was active on the committee of officials of his place of work and was one of his friends. He was an active member of the General Federation and was a devoted member of Mapai in 1938. In 1938 he was transferred to Tel Aviv and was appointed a Haganah guide and then a guide to the city, in which he educated thousands of members and trained them for protective positions. In the last year before they fell, he was the commander of Tel Aviv and the area. When the war was removed from the gates of Tel Aviv, he was appointed deputy commander of the “Kiryati” Brigade, and was responsible for a number of outposts, their protection and safety. On July 21,1948, he went on a tour of the premises of Jamzu-Latrun, and on the way his car got on a mine. Israel was wounded and died after suffering for twenty-four hours on the fifteenth of Tammuz 5708 (July 22, 1948). Together with him were his aides, his aides, the commanders of the Haganah, Shura Osherovitz, and Yehezkel son of-David. He was laid to rest at the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery. After his death, a memorial monument was erected in the village of Jimizu and his comrades who fell with him. After his fall, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel.
