Shachentov, Jalal (Galili)

Son of Rahum and Hanom. He was born in Shiraz, Israel, in 1950. He studied Hebrew and Israeli literature in the evening classes of the Culture Department of the Tel Aviv Municipality and was drafted into the IDF in August 1955. He served only eight months and in this period of time he won the hearts of all his friends and commanders in his willingness to carry out any action out of responsibility and loyalty. On the 18th of Iyar 5706 (April 29, 1956), he fell while carrying out his duties in a mine. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
