Yair, son of Dov and Tova Shachari, was born on March 20, 1935 in Tel Aviv. In December 1953 he was drafted into the IDF, served in the Nahal Brigade and completed his regular service after a Sinai operation. Even before the Six-Day War he was in reserve duty and was among the veteran soldiers in the unit. On the third day of the battles, on the 28th of Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967), he died in an attack by the air force at the outskirts of the city of Nablus.
