Shabtai, Ronnie


Son of Hagai and Noga. Born in Tel Aviv on March 4, 1960. When he was young, the family settled in Ramat Gan, where he studied at the Arnon Elementary School and at the Blich High School, and when he was fifteen he was fascinated by the kibbutz life, His youth, until his military service, spent time in Kibbutz Ma’aleh Hahamisha, where he also graduated from high school, where he was a quiet, sensitive, and diligent boy. In spite of his closed nature, he was popular in society and loved by people, and even during his time in the kibbutz, which was a very Simcha time in his life, he found a common language with his friends In early February 1979 Roni was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the Artillery Corps, where he was assigned to the Artillery Corps. On the 12th of Shevat, 5739 (February 9, 1979) he fell during his service. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. His parents left two brothers and a sister. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commanding officer wrote: “Roni fell a few days after he arrived in the unit, during which he acted like the rest of his comrades in recognition of his desire to serve in the artillery corps … The feeling of loss among all officers and soldiers of the unit” .
