Shabso, Nabil
Fatma and Ismail’s youngest son. Nabil was born in Israel on August 22, 1958, to a family of five. He attended elementary school in the village of Reihaniyah, where he lived. He studied for a year in high school in Nazareth and completed his studies in the vocational frameworks in Safed and Kiryat Shmona. When Nabil was still a boy, his father died. Three of his brothers were already married, and the burden of supporting the family fell on him and his brothers who remained at home. Nabil was drafted into the Border Police in 1976. He continued his career as a combat soldier and driver in the Border Police unit of the Fortress of the Palmach. Nabil was a social friend. He invested in the success of his missions and cooperated with his comrades in the unit. As part of his service he was a partner in many successes in capturing senior wanted men. He received from his commanders the “operational service award”. Nabil married Arofa (Aked) and planned to leave the army and set up a family. He was very fond of social activities and parties. His hobbies were mainly football, sports and competitions. First sergeant Nabil fell in the line of duty in Lebanon in the first Tire disaster. On the morning of 11.11.1982, during the Peace for Galilee War, an explosion occurred in a building in the city of Tzur, home to the Israeli military government and many IDF forces, and about 100 people were killed, including seventy-six members of the Israeli security forces. He was laid to rest at the Reihaniyah cemetery, and Nabil received the Peace of Galilee award, and after his death his family donated his money from the Ministry of Defense to the local mosque in their village.
