Seri, Yosef
Yosef, son of Shoshana and Avraham Seri, was born in Sivan in 1921 in Sana’a, the capital of Yemen, where he studied in the cheder. At the age of 14 he immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1934. When he arrived in Israel, he studied the work of paving and continued to study evening classes. At the outbreak of the War of Independence he enlisted and served in the Carmeli Brigade. Yosef fell on Tuesday, July 10, 1948, during fierce battles in the Mishmar Hayarden area during Operation Brosh to destroy the Syrian bridgehead in this area and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
