Son of Shoshana and Yosef Saadia was born in Jerusalem in 1930. He attended elementary school and worked in agriculture, and two weeks after the United Nations General Assembly decided to partition the country into two states and the outbreak of the War of Independence that followed, he volunteered to defend his city. only. Yechiel accompanied convoys to Talpiot, to the source of life and to the university. Participated in the attack on the village of Shiloah and the vicinity of Ramat Rachel and was later sent to Gush Etzion. From there he wrote to his friend in Jerusalem: “The enemy now separates us, we are besieged in Gush Etzion and you are in Jerusalem, and yet our spirit is strong for victory.” Yehiel was hit by a shell while he was at the Kfar Etzion outpost on the 25th of Nissan 5708 (1948). On the 25th of Cheshvan 5706 (17.11.1949), he was brought to rest with the rest of the fallen in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
