Seri, Hanan


Hanan (Hananik, Posto), son of Tova and Asher, was born in Kibbutz Beeri on August 11, 1948. He studied at the elementary school in Ein Dor, continued his studies at the “Tavor” educational institution in the kibbutz. He was always attracted to the field of mechanics, and always worked to dismantle and assemble mechanisms, always working hard to improve and he built tools from engines, parts of machinery and junk he found in the yard of the farm. He worked on assembling models of airplanes that were published in IAF pamphlets, and learned to work hard on the assembly work with great patience and took out a clean workshop. He was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement, and was active in swimming and running. Hanan was drafted into the IDF in early November 1967. After basic training, he was trained in a tank training course for tank commanders and he began training in the officers’ course, but due to malaria he was forced to stop. But during the Yom Kippur War Hanan took part in the battles against the Egyptians on the Sinai front, and on 20 October 1973, Hanan fell in a battle at the “Tartur-Lexicon” intersection. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Ein Dor. Survived by his parents and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant. His kibbutz published a pamphlet in his memory, including his memoirsand photographs.
