Sein-Ita, Sami
Son of Yosef and Hannah. Born on 25.12.1945 in Roman Asher in Romania. Sami graduated from elementary school there and went on to study electricity. In 1965 he immigrated to Israel and was drafted into the army in 1965. He was very pleased with his service in the army because he saw the service as his obligation to the state as a national recognition. During his service on the 10th of Elul 5727 (10.9.1967), while riding in an army jeep on the Golan Heights, he fell. The battalion commander wrote in a letter of condolence to his parents that Sami “was one of the pillars of his department.” The soldiers loved him and his girlfriend because “there was always joy, laughter and good spirit.” He told a story that on the night when they had to attack one of the outposts on the Syrian plateau, one of the soldiers could not stand on the hard road and kneel down. Then Sammy walked over to him and without an order loaded him on his back – and kept moving. This example was exemplary to his friends, because he “devoted his life to preserving the Golan area so that the young farmers in the Hula Valley and the Jordan Valley could walk proudly in their farms and not be afraid of the shadow of the Syrians’ guns and weapons.” He was brought to eternal rest in the Ashdod cemetery.
