Segev (Frenkel), David

David, son of Rivka and Yitzhak, was born on the 30th of March 1950 in Kfar Yehezkel. He attended elementary school in Geva and later completed his studies at the Afula High School. Dudi, as his family and friends affectionately called him, was a diligent student, serious and enduring. He did not succumb to the difficulties in his studies and knew how to overcome obstacles. In all his years he was among the best students in the class and at school. A special love for the professions in the natural sciences. Because of the great interest in biology and chemistry, he decided to move from the physical-mathematical trend in which he began his studies to the biological trend. He loved to get to the bottom of things he had learned, and after explaining them he would explain them to students who had difficulty in learning. His classmates remember him as a quiet, withdrawn young man. In the debates, which had arisen in social classes, they were used to quitting the shouts and hustles when his uncle spoke. He never raised his voice and was not involved in quarrels. David was drafted into the IDF at the end of July 1968 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he was assigned to serve as a tank commander in an operational armored battalion. During the Yom Kippur War, Dudi participated in the battles in Sinai and later fought in battles west of the Suez Canal, in the capacity of commander of the tank division. On October 20, 1973, his tank was hit by a direct hit and he was killed when he went out to rescue a driver from a tank that was hit near Jabel Jenifa. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kfar Yehezkel. He left behind a wife and son, parents and two brothers.
