Segal, Eitan

Eitan, son of Rachel and Yitzhak, was born on 28.6.1951 in Kibbutz Mavki’im. Eitan was drafted into the IDF in early August 1969 and assigned to the Armored Corps, where he was sent to the Patton tank course, and later to the tank commanders course, where he was promoted to an officer’s course. He was very devoted to his subordinates and his company was the best company in the battalion, and its commanders wrote in their opinion: “Eitan is an officer with initiative and a desire to move forward. He is efficient in his work, very orderly, and tries to perform every function with the maximum of his ability. “Due to these qualifications, he was appointed head of the office of the late Major General Mendel Mandler. He was awarded the Operational Service Award for his part in the operational activities. After completing his mandatory service, he volunteered to serve in the regular army. A few weeks before he fell he married his girlfriend Amit. The Yom Kippur War found Eitan on the Sinai front, where he participated in the braking battles against the Egyptians. On the 17th of Tishrei 5734 (October 13, 1973), he fell in a battle west of the Gidi junction.
