Scrope, Ariel (‘Relo’)


Son of Moshe and Cecilia. He was born on 21.1.1956 in Afula, his green, clear and smiling eyes always reflected his inner beauty and his smile on life, through which optimism, youthfulness and maturity, consideration and respect for adults and young people were reflected Ariel, who loved people, loved to help the needy, and with his delicate and delicate sensitivity, he helped his grandmother in his class, helped his friends with studies and good advice, and guided young members of the Scouts movement, his honesty and warmth made him a social center in and outside the school. Among his new friends in the army, who had leadership skills, and his friends in basic training wrote to his parents: “In a moment of despair and despair He always knew how to encourage us to smile on our lips, even though he felt like the rest of us. “Ariel loved to learn, and his studies were also a hobby, mainly his love for mathematics, physics and electronics. To perfection in knowledge and to action, for which he demanded much of himself and did not content himself with his talents, with which he achieved achievements easily: great intelligence, curiosity, diligence and perseverance made him an outstanding student in all his studies: from elementary school to high school, And this is attested by the Prizes of Merit that he won. The principal of the high school wrote to his parents: “In 1971, when he was a brilliant student, he came to the Ort school in Afula, a new era for the Mossad, and Ariel served as a magnet for outstanding students.” He did not only excel in academic studies. His quick, skillful hands drew elaborate drawings and installed various electrical appliances. He had a talent for music. He had an excellent musical hearing. Played the violin sensitively, lightly apart from the piano and moved the ears of the listeners at parties playing the accordion. ‘A healthy mind in a healthy body’ was true to my brother Ariel. His tall, muscular figure appeared in all sports: weight lifting in a bodybuilding department at the Beit Eshkol community center in Afula-Elite, swimming and hiking in the countryside accompanied by his friends. He excelled in shooting because of his high concentration ability, and he won prizes from the Afula Shooting Club. In October 1974, Ariel was drafted into the IDF and sent to basic training in the Armored Corps School, leaving the home he loved so much, which was a major focus of his life. After a short period of service, Ariel was expected to fulfill an old dream: to begin electrical engineering studies at the Technion in Haifa, and on the 12th of Tevet 5725 (25.12.1974) the dream vanished – Ariel fell in the line of duty. The military cemetery in Afula, left behind by parents and a sister, and since his death, his parents and sister have tried to commemorate his memory in various factories: A name in his name at the high school he attended, a room in his name in the Technion’s electrical engineering faculty, awarding his name to outstanding students in the school, and the best rider in the Susiada factory, held every year in Afula; The sons of the city, who fell in all of Israel’s systems, were buried in the Great Synagogue in Afula, and his sister Ruti also wrote a memorial book for the fallen – the sons of Afula – nineteen years of Yaffa and intense life.
