Schweid, Zvi
Zvi (Zvika), son of Klara and Mordechai, was born on December 26, 1951, in Bnei Brak. He studied at a Talmud Torah in Bnei Brak, and later continued his studies at the Ein Ganim high school in Petah Tikva and at the IAF Technical School in Haifa, with the aim of maintaining the foundations. Zvi, who was the only child of his parents, was born in Bnei Brak the year his parents immigrated to Israel from Romania. He grew up and was educated in a religious environment and was a member of the Ezra movement. From childhood he was a photography enthusiast and a nature lover. He loved the country as an enthusiastic patriot, traveled a lot in Merhavia and knew many sites in various parts of the country. Zvi was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-December 1969, completed a helicopter mechanic course and was assigned to the Israel Air Force, where he served at the IAF base and was later assigned to the squadron as a helicopter mechanic, after which he was transferred to another squadron. He served as a team leader in the same squadron, and was considered an excellent soldier in his squadron.In September 1973, Zvi married his girlfriend and the couple lived in Petah Tikva. A few days before the war, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant, and during the Yom Kippur War he fulfilled my duties On October 24, 1973, as he was flying in a helicopter that transported wounded west of the city of Suez, the helicopter was hit by Egyptian fire and exploded in the air, and Zwi was hit and killed, and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery. In Kiryat Shaul he left behind a wife and mother, and in memory of two of his friends a Torah scroll was donated to the synagogue in Kfar Ganim.
