Schwarzman, Alexander (Sasha)

Alexander, son of Prima and Moshe Schwarzman, was born on 15.11.1982 in Vinnitsa, Ukraine, Soviet Union, as a second child to his parents and brother to his older Diana. He was a descendant of the Baal Shem Tov (the Baal Shem Tov), the founder of the Hasidic movement, and studied in Ukraine at elementary school No. 33. He immigrated to Israel with his mother and sister in 1993. He joined the IDF in January 2001. Throughout his childhood and youth, he aspired to become a pilot, and thus found himself in a pilot course. Alexander’s family met him for the last time five days before he fell. Alexander fell during the Second Lebanon War in a battle in Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon on July 26, 2006. Alexander was buried in the military cemetery in Nahariya. He was raised to the rank of captain after his death.
