Schwartz, Zvi


Son of Leah (Ethel) and Moshe, was born in 1927 in Romania. In his town he finished elementary school. Zvi was among the survivors of World War II. At the end of the war he was active in the Dror Habonim movement and in its training and driving lessons. He took the “Bericha route” to Austria and from there to Italy. Where he served on behalf of the Haganah in the “Irgun Ha – Bricha and Haapala” organization, and afterward – in training. In January 1947, he also made aliya to this country and immediately joined the Hagana forces. During the War of Independence he fulfilled his duty and was killed near the end of Operation Horev to expel the Egyptian army from Israel during an Egyptian air strike near Rafah on the day of the 5th of Tevet 5709 (August 30, 1949). 1949) was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.
