Schwartz, Shaul (Paul)
Shaul, son of Yosef and Hannah Schwartz, was born on July 7, 1937 in the city of Ploiesti, Romania, and immigrated to Israel in 1950. In August 1955 he was drafted into the IDF and at the outbreak of the Sinai Campaign he took part in it. After that, he went on reserve duty from time to time, and in this framework he was also in the Six-Day War. On the fourth day of the battles, he was wounded in a battle west of Bir-Gafgafa when the armored half-track was hit by a tank shell, but nine days later, on 17 June 1967, he died of his wounds. He laid down a wife and a child who was only seven months old. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
