Schwartz, Sarit


Daughter of Ruth and Son of-Zion, was born on September 13, 1965 in Jerusalem. Sarit attended the David Stone Elementary School, continued to study at the ORT school and completed her studies at the “Clal” school – all in Jerusalem. Sarit was drafted into the IDF at the end of October 1983, and after basic training was stationed in the Signal Corps and served as a clerk in the Kesher office, fulfilling her duties to the satisfaction of her superiors and being promoted to Corporal. On the 4 th of Tammuz 5744 (3.7.1984), Cpl. Sarit fell during her service and was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. She left a parents, a sister and four sisters and two step brothers. In her letter of condolence to the family, her commander wrote: “During the period she served in our unit, she loved those around her, and she was also a dedicated and disciplined soldier with the desire to contribute as best she could to perform her role in the best possible way.” Her family commemorated her in a synagogue in her neighborhood in Jerusalem. A memorial corner was also erected in her name in the Gilo neighborhood
