Schwartz, Michael
Michael (Mickey), son of Sarah and Peretz, was born on May 6, 1952 in Magdiel. When he was five he moved with his family to live in Moshav Yeshayahu Givat Yeshayahu, where he grew up and was educated. He attended the “Sarigim” elementary school, which is the regional school for the Adulam region, and continued to study for two years at the Zionist youth farm in Jerusalem, in the field of art and sculpture. Mickey was a handsome boy, cheerful and playful, growing up in the countryside. From a very early age, he began to help his parents in maintaining the farm, loved the work and did his work efficiently and with dedication. He was a very talented boy and spent much of his spare time painting and sculpture. He had a gentle and sensitive soul and he could see the beauty of the simplest things. Already as a student at the school, he was evident in his talent and was active in organizing the parties at his school, designing the stage for plays and preparing paintings for the decoration of the class. He was the driving force in every action that took place in the school and was very popular with his friends. By nature, he loved people and animals, and out of benevolence and kindness came to the aid of others when necessary. From his youth he was a member of the Zionist youth movement, loved the country and traveled extensively in Merhavia. All his life he was very attached to his parents, respected them and appreciated them, and helped them as much as they could, in order to relieve them of the burden of hard work in the agriculture. He always dreamed of a farm of his own with flower gardens, which he loved very much. He was very devoted to his brother, and there was a special fraternity between them. Michael was drafted into the IDF in early 1970 and asked to volunteer for the Armored Corps, where he enlisted in readiness and recognition, and wanted to be a soldier who could contribute to his country. He was a good soldier and an excellent rifleman, who did what he was asked of him with dedication and good spirit, and throughout his service he tried not to worry his parents, kept in close contact with the house, Call every opportunity.
