Schwartz, Meshulam


Meshulam, Ben Hannah, and Baruch, was born on June 6, 1953, in the city of Hidonach in Hungary. In 1957 he immigrated to Israel with his family, who settled in Pardes Hanna. “Meshulam was drafted into the IDF at the end of July 1971 and volunteered for the parachuting Nahal Brigade And then studied at a Yeshiva in Kiryat Arba, and was proud of his studies and loved Kiryat Arba, He participated in the battles in Sinai for three days, and on the first of Tishrei 5734 (11.10.1973) the first of Sukkot, armor battle was hit by the tank was an artillery gunner and he was killed. His commander wrote: “I knew him as a brave soldier and an excellent armor man, who stopped the Egyptian armor with his body, which he intended to destroy us … He was fond of his commanders and comrades in arms, and his fall was a heavy loss to our unit.” His direct commander wrote to his parents: “Your dear son was with me in the first days of the battle, he fought like a lion, destroyed many of the Egyptian enemies. Defense Minister Moshe Dayan wrote to the bereaved family: “Meshulam, of blessed memory, served in the paratroop brigade, and he was a devoted soldier and exemplary friend, and he was loved by everyone who knew him. Kiryat Arba and Meshulam’s family published a book commemorating his name.
