Schwartz, Itay Abraham

Son of Eva and Jacob. Was born on 25 May 1984 He joined the IDF in September 2003. He was transferred to the IDF training course at Nitzanim, and was later sent to a drivers’ course in Tzrifin, where he was assigned as an officer’s driver. Later he was assigned to a vehicle in Tze’elim. But Itai felt that he was not exhausting his abilities; He went to a paramedics course and after completing the course successfully asked for a position as a combat supporter. In the course of his military service, Itai did not leave the ideals and principles that guided him, and one day he returned home with a puppy that was born at the base and who the sergeant of the base thought of killing him. . The puppy got the name “Jack” and a warm home, while the sergeant filed a complaint with me, but the rest has not yet come in. Itai’s desire to serve as a warrior did not stop for a moment and he decided to turn the world around to achieve what he wanted. The unit began to gradually reduce the dosage of the drugs it had taken and after a few months he appeared before a medical committee which set a new profile: 82. Itai was happy and ready to sign an additional regular service – provided that it was as close as possible. He was accepted as a member of the Nahal commandos and among the hundreds of soldiers who began the process, he was one of the few dozen who successfully completed it, and was disappointed when he did not pass the final screening, but was relieved to learn that the reason for his dismissal was the remainder of his short service. Itay is the course of a beginner in the Nahal Brigade: basic training and advanced training at the brigade training base in Arad and continued training as a combat medic. During the course of the route he was stationed with his unit in the West Bank and finally was transferred to the operational company of the 9th Battalion, the Shacham Battalion, in July 2005. The disengagement plan that was launched in July 2005 found Itai in Samaria taking an active part in the evacuation of Homesh and Sanur, The evacuation of Amona in February 2006 was nearing its peak, and Itai’s battalion was to evacuate the market in Hebron, and after an agreement was reached and the market vacated voluntarily, The battalion at the last minute evacuated the traffic arteries to Amona in order to allow the evacuating forces to cross Prior to the evacuation, there was a violent clash – physical and verbal – between the settlers who tried to block the route and Nahal soldiers. The events caused a deep shock in Itai’s wounded soul; His agitation and the fratricidal struggle that drove him to try to organize a reconciliation meeting between the settlers and the soldiers, but his offer did not receive a sympathetic ear and cooperation. After twenty-five days at the base, when he was finally going home, a curfew was declared. Staff Sergeant Itai Schwartz fell in the course of his duties on the 17th of Adar 5766 (March 16, 2006) and he is twenty-two. He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Holon, in the city where he was born and will remain forever. Survived by parents, sister and brother.
