Schwartz, Israel


Son of Rivka and Shalom, was born on 17.4.1928 in Radautz, Romania. During the Second World War he was interned in a concentration camp in Transnistria and after three years of torture was released and returned to Romania, where he spent a short time with his two brothers in orphanages. As a member of the Gordonia movement he immigrated to Israel in 1945 and was sent first to Top Five. Israel did not settle for work alone, and out of an aspiration to study, it moved to the Petah Tikva agriculture. Here he found his place. Elem was lively and lively, engaged in work and in the studies and questions of his group’s company – the Yogevim. At the end of the school year he went with his group to the Negev and then, when the group went to Gezer, went with her to undergo further training. During the War of Independence he served in the Harel Brigade as a convoy escort on the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem route. Israel fell on April 20, 1948, at Shaar Hagai, while escorting a convoy during the “Harel” operation. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
