Schwartz, David (Dudi)


Was born in 1923 in Orcheva, Carpathian Russia, where he studied at the local school and was among the millions of Jews who were sent to the death camps during the Second World War and managed to survive and immigrate to Eretz Israel a year after the camps were liberated. In Israel, he joined Kibbutz Ayala and stayed there until the outbreak of the War of Independence, when he joined the Carmeli Brigade, which fought in the northern front on July 17, 1948, as part of Operation Brosh, In Mishmar HaYarden, David fell in a battle near Deirdre, east of Lake Hula, and was laid to rest in Deirdre. At his brother’s request, David was transferred to the Netanya military cemetery.
