Scholem , Dan-Robert
Son of Hugo. He was born in Berlin in 1923 and in 1938 immigrated to Palestine. He joined Kibbutz Sdot Yam and worked in agriculture. During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army and was assigned to the 462 Company of the Transport Corps. He served in Egypt and Beirut when the ship “Arinfora” was hit on board, en route to Malta, and Daba was one of the few survivors. Afterward he joined the commando company and excelled in heroism in its operations. When the Jewish Brigade (the Brigade) joined its ranks, he fought in Italy and on April 4, 1945, he fell in battle on the Sanyo River. He was laid to rest at the British military cemetery in Braune, Italy. His memory was immortalized in “The Book of Volunteerism,” in the Yizkor book of the Jabotinsky Institute and in the “Book of the Year of the Journalists” 1956.
