Schnapp, Asher
Son of Penny and Israel, was born on November 25, 1926 in Bukovina, where he graduated from high school. From his youth he was active in the Hanoar Hazioni Movement. With the outbreak of the Second World War he joined the partisan units that fought the Germans and after the end of the war devoted his energy to the organization Aliya Bet. In December 1947 he boarded the illegal immigrant ship Knesset Yisrael, which was seized and sent to Cyprus. From there he came to Israel. When the War of Independence broke out, he immediately joined the ranks of the fighters. As an excellent gunner he took part in the battle for Jenin and then at Zar’in. On the morning of the first day of the Second Truce, on the morning of the first day of the Second Truce, the enemy carried out a surprise attack, and he fell in this battle for his duty on the ramparts. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Afula.
