During his school years he was active in the “Scouts” movement and was involved in sports in various professions. At the Biram School of the Reali School, he served as chairman of the student committee. He was also interested in music and actively participated in the drama club. Oded was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early August 1959. After graduating from the regular army, he continued his studies at the physics faculty of the Hebrew University of Haifa, where he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in physics. He has also taught physics at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and the Ministry of Labor, where he was a gifted researcher and an admired teacher, and he was a beloved figure and a very gentle person: his teacher, Prof. Amiram Ron of the Faculty of Physics at the Technion , Told him: “I knew Oded as a stodn Ninth year. Although he was not the best student, he had a desire to understand and know. It was a pleasure to exchange things with him. He was always fresh and curious. As far as I was concerned, he was not only a young student, but also a friend with whom new ideas could be discussed – – – Oded was really special – and not just in physics. He was also politically alert, one of those who cared. Oded was rare, the type of student the teacher was really waiting for – – – his master’s thesis was published in the international press as a research paper. He raised the idea of testing the phenomenon called electro-magnetic resonance – – – for this work, there were excellent echoes in the world. “Oded’s reaction to his success was characteristic of his personality: although the evaluation of his work was sufficient to give him a doctorate, To the professor and make it clear that he is not at peace with his work, saying that “the subject is too theoretical and has no useful implications. I have to attach additional experimental work to her. “The professor continues:” They warned him that he was starting all over again, but he was not deterred. His conscience was not quiet until he completed research in applied physics, which has practical implications and is likely to bring real benefit to human society. “At this stage, Oded began to engage in research under the guidance of Prof. Esterman (former head of the Naval Research Department) who was fascinated by Oded’s personality. Oded concentrated theoretical material and did theoretical preparatory work and a series of experiments with his original and interesting approach, but when he was about to begin his studies, he was called up for active reserve duty On 26 June 1970, Captain Oded fell in the enemy’s assault on the Golan Heights and was brought to rest at home The military cemetery in Haifa left a wife and two children, and his colleagues submitted to the examiners’ committee The first theoretical work and the preparatory work he did afterwards, which decided that both of these works could give the doctor the title of Ph.D., and this degree was awarded to him a year after they fell (this is the first time that the Technion grants such a degree after the death of its recipient). And his soldiers, the commander of the unit wrote a letter of condolence to his wife, in which he said that each of the soldiers in the sensitive unit passed away as a personal friend who had no value in his personality, his radiant personality, his carelessness as a commander of his subordinates, Expansion, knowledge and approach Shot bought us all – – – remembered forever remain engraved in our hearts and encourages us to herContinues to realize all the ideals he has not achieved by himself. “A memorial was erected in his place in the Golan Heights, where a scholarship fund was set up in memory of his friends and fallen Technion students.
