Scheuer, Yaakov Walter


Son of Takla and Nathan. He was born in 1917 in Bonn, Germany. After immigrating to Palestine, he settled in Haifa and joined the ranks of the Haganah. On the 6th of Tishrei 5669 (October 6, 1938), in the midst of the 1936-1939 riots, he left a convoy of trucks from Nahariya to Rosh Hanikra to receive agricultural produce from Beirut. On their way back to the village of a-Zeib, the trucks were attacked by dozens of armed Arabs and Yaakov was shot and killed. He was also killed by driver Zalman Schwartz. Yaakov was laid to rest in the Haifa cemetery
